Workshops
Relaxing atmosphere of holidays is always good time to learn something new. That’s why the progrmme is full of different workshops among which everyone will find something for himself. There are no ordinary workshops in Zabinki. All of them give you a chance to discover new talents of yours, learn new skills and surprise other campers by the ones you already have. Describing all the workshops organised between 2002 and 2008 would take too long, we shall limit ourselves to emphasizing their specificity and variety.
1A) educational workshops
• debates (environmental issues: a power plant in Temelin, a dam in Gabikovo-Nagymaros)
• formal simulation games (European Union Council, Turkey – Greece negotiations on Cyprus),
• informal simulation games – Frog Island, the Derdians
• meetings with representatives of NGOs (Erasmus Student Network, Amnesty International)
• sustainable development
• debates (on various topics: from the so-called Euroconstitution to national alcoholic beverages)
• the constitution of Crimidad
• workshops on NGOs
• scholarships and grants in the European Union
• Youth Mobility workshop
• stereotypes
• Turkey in the EU
1B) educational workshops about Poland
• Poland - introduction
• the history of Poland
• the geography of Poland
• Polish language classes
2) practical workshops
• baking bread
• tiramisu preparation
• pottery
• wood carving
• salsa dancing
• photography workshop
3) recreational workshops
• film screenings (sometimes followed by a discussion)
• cow and chicken (a visit to the village administrator to see the crops and animals)
• making T-shirts
• workshops on Italian gesticulation
• ladies only (making jewellery while watching Sex and the City)
As the years went by, we have expanded the range of practical and recreational workshops to the detriment of educational ones (although the workshops about Poland have remained). This decision was a result of the feedback we received and lack of interest for the latter. Paradoxically, it does not mean lowering of standards. The program of the camp, after years of experience, reflects better the needs of the participants. At the end of the day, the main message does not need to be spelled out on a flipchart. The participants discover it by their own.
Share your ideas and opinions, get carried away by your creativity, imagination and fantasy! Choose a workshop that suits you the best and free your energy and express yourself the way you want.
